The opening night of Salzburger Festspiele in 2018 consisted of Krzysztof Penderecki’s monumental work, St. Luke Passion. This hauntingly beautiful score is a pillar of 20th-century music. Lucas Meachem sang the baritone solo alongside soprano Sarah Wegener and bass Matthew Rose. Kent Nagano conducted the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal for this epic evening in all its atonal glory.
