The dire COVID-19 situation has left us at a global crisis, resulting in halting life to a complete stop, including the arts. Music institutions and venues around the world have gone dark.

For Lucas, this meant the cancellation of two productions with The Dallas Opera: his debut as Rodrigo in Verdi’s Don Carlo and his signature role, Figaro in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Lucas said:

A sound and reasonable decision made by The Dallas Opera, the community’s health and safety are of the utmost importance. Rodrigo was—and still is—a dream role for me, but it will happen another day.
